PLC Software Development Engineer (2556) California Bay Area

Job Description Summary:

This PLC Software Development Engineer will work closely with senior software developers, product management and customers to develop and test PLC software used to control our advanced vertical furnaces. This position reports to the Software Development Manager and has high visibility across all departments. You will troubleshoot issues with the existing codebase as well as develop new features. You will create and execute test plans for any changes prior to release. You will provide customer technical support for operational PLC issues. You will be encouraged to present ideas for product improvements that would result in improvement performance and revenue generation.

This position focuses on systems containing Omron PLC’s with code in both ladder logic and structured text developed using Sysmac Studio.

Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience with PLC programming
    • Experience with both ladder logic and structured text programming
    • Omron and Sysmac Studio experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of SEMI standards
  • Experience developing code for safety PLC’s is a plus
  • Experience with software management tools
    • GIT
    • MantisBT
  • Experience interfacing PLC’s to other equipment using serial ports, Ethernet sockets, and EtherCAT
  • Experience developing control systems integrating PLC’s with servo drives

General Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree
  • >5 years’ experience in hands-on PLC development within the semiconductor or related industries preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and handle shifting priorities professionally
  • Valid driver’s license, passport, and ability to travel
