Director Technical Project Management (California Bay Area) 2492

The Director, Technical Project Management (D-TPjM) is a senior trusted partner for Operations, Product management, Product Development, and Finance that creates an environment of predictable, timely, and cost-effective project execution. The D-TPjM is data-centric and has excellent projects data mining and communication skills with the ability to present concisely, accurately, and clearly to all levels of the organization while transparently achieving stakeholder goals and holding the organization to account.

The D-TPjM is an influencer who is comfortable driving execution without direct control, as well as highly accountable and customer focused. Driven to achieve project goals through preemptively managing risk with mitigation actions from project onset within a culture of continuous improvement. This role is part of the R&D organization, directly manages a team of TPjMs, and reports to the Sr. Director of R&D.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall Responsibility for the TPjM organization, team development, and recruiting
  • Proactively works cross-functionally to manage projects resources
  • Manages risk and compliance across the projects portfolio
  • Provides regular health checks of the portfolio to all the stakeholders
  • Leads the development and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, and standards to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders
  • Sets standards for project management capabilities, including certifications and qualifications for project managers, success measurement criteria, and methodologies
  • Manages projects involving hardware, firmware/software, power RF, and mechanical designs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 15+ years experience in technology project management, with 5+ years at Director level with direct reports
  • Experience with projects involving HW, SW, and ME
  • Strong data-driven mindset and presentation skills
  • Experience using Jira/Confluence is must
  • Experience working in a product development as well as manufacturing organization is a must
  • Must have deep understanding of both waterfall and agile project management methodologies
  • Must have experience building project health check and KPI dashboards
